Player Info

YM Contact Name: lynnmalfoy

Time Zone (GMT +/-): -5
Availability for Playing: Days Wed-Friday, almost none on Sat/Sun, and all day Mon/Tues

General
Name: Verity Alanna O’Shea Montague
Nicknames (and who is likely to use them): Ver (Used by close friends), Vera (her fathers name for her- now, used my Montague and Miles when they are being arses), Princess (trust me, only Montague would know this), O'Shea (by people not fond of her- i.e. Adrian, Draco)
Age: 27
Birthday: March 10, 1979
Place of Residence (an address in Hogsmeade unless something else has been decided with the mods) O'Shea Manor, Ireland

Appearance
Height: 5’7
Weight: 135lbs.
Eyes: Green
Hair Colour & Style: Blond. Her hair isn’t quite curly, but very wavy.
Skin tone: Pale
Build: She is very average in build. She is not without curves, but they aren’t very shapely either. She has a nice shape, not a stick, but certainly skinny.
Distinguishing Marks: Her eyes have a tendency to look intense in almost any situation. She also has scars on her back and wrist which are always hidden with glamour charms. Theo and Montague are both aware of them and has seen them.
Dress Style: Verity always tries to look her best, although that doesn’t always match what her fellow Slytherins would consider. She thinks there is something to be said for a “tomboy” look- if done the right way. She has a few robes that she loves to wear, one of which being her Ballycastle Bats jersey, though this is only worn around the house. Her robes are in pretty good shape, most of them coming from France, where she has spent the previous year and therefore in reletively good fashion as well. Usually she wear’s subdued colors: olive, dusty lavander, dusty pink, etc.
Things they would always carry with them (optional): Her wand, usually is wearing jewlery outside the house.
Other: Sometimes it appears as though her eyes change from green to blue, but she would never admit to being blue-eyed.
Also, she is very concerned with her appearance and will never leave the house without her glamour charms. She tries to keep them at a minimum though, making it appear as though she is naturally beautiful, not that she’s wearing make up. However, she is not threatened by other women’s beauty when she has her charms on- she know’s her looks have gotten her far in life and cares very little if other women look nice. In fact, she expects it.

Health
Disabilities/Handicaps: None.
Health in general – both mental and physical: She doesn’t have any physical problems and mentally she seems to be just fine. However, she has a lot of pent up anger and frustration from her father. She trusts very few people because of the abuse from her childhood.
Other: She is beginning to suffer from anxiety complications and hasn’t been eating regularly, making her weak. She has noticed that she seems to panic much quicker than she used to, which worries her and has recently had a problem with alcohol dependancy. With the help of Montague and Theo she has stopped drinking almost entirely and although she still is obsessive about things, she doesn't panic quite so easily.

Personality
First Impression (others have of you): Most people find Verity a little hard to pin at first, and that’s how she likes it. People would probably assume she was a sweet, albeit naive, witch (if they catch her one on one.) If she is caught around a large group of people, she will quickly play to the center of attention, coming off as very confident and fun-loving (or cool and collected, depending on the group.)
General Behaviour: She doesn’t bear it all to any stranger, always leaving the proverbial door open. Verity is very pretty, though she plays it down a little, and very cunning as well. However, she only uses these to her advantage when she needs to.

She is shy, but what she lacks in self-confidence she makes up in volume (when in a party situation.) Her ‘walls’, although not thick, come in the form of being overly-confident- a sort of reverse psychology. Deep down she figures no one will know she’s shy if she’s out-spoken and loud. When she gets in a one-on-one situation, however, she will clam-up very quickly. She hates to approach new people or speak out in a way that will bring attention to herself in a quiet situation. When things are loud and rowdy, however, she is more than happy to join in.

Her behaviour is also subject to change. When around a fellow Slytherin, for example, her demeanor will become cool and calculated, matching to their own. She has no problem gossiping or manipulating people to get what she wants and though she’s out of practice, she is still a Slyherin at heart.

But if she is around Fred or George Weasley, her attitude is laid back and fun loving. Because of this it is hard for anyone to really pin who she is in one place. It’s a security device she uses to protect herself. Verity has been through a lot of rejection in her life and has found ways around getting hurt.

She doesn’t allow people to get close to her anymore, although George and Fred have begun to break this norm. She only allows Montague and Theo close to her. She has a few female friends that she considers close friends, but not deeply so. She was physically abused by her father from a very young age and learned to keep people at a distance because of it (this also attributes to her shyness.) The only person she truly opened up to was Theodore Nott, her closest friend growing up. She began to open up to Montague, her long-term boyfriend in during Hogwarts, however, he hurt her deeply when she wouldn’t sleep with him. Since then she has kept people at a distance, always giving them a painted picture of how she wants to be seen and keeping the real her locked inside.

Although she’s not proud of it, she is afraid of the rejection she faces from her house-mates over working for the Weasley’s. She wasn’t proud of it at first, but it didn’t take long for her to see past all of the things she heard about them in school and get to know the real boys. Image is very important to her and she tries to juggle them as well as possible but being a Slytherin and “Weasley-lover” seems to be riding the fence and her balls will drop soon. (It should be noted that she also thinks this is extremely immature and hates herself for it.)

Strengths: She is very good with handling money and other math-y type things (which she suspects is why George and Fred hired her.) She also is a superb cook and cares very deeply for people. Once she feels connected with someone (which takes a bit of effort) she is extremely loyal to him or her.

However, she also has a strong sense of self-preservation, perhaps too strong. She is not above lying, cheating, or stealing to survive. She has been known to be very manipulative when it is needed of her.
Weaknesses: People have always told her that she lacks vision. Verity doesn’t necessarily agree, but it is true that she doesn’t know what she wants to do with her life. She gets bored when in one situation too long and itches to move on. She also tends to be a bit self-centered, having been the baby of her family. She is on the vain side, trying to keep herself looking her best at all times- a habit she picked up from her school days. There are more than a few who would tell you she's a ditz. You can decide that for yourself.
Habits: Playing with her hair when nervous or biting her lip. She also has a nasty habit of checking her appearance often. When she's bored and alone she owl's people- usually people who she isn't very good friends with.
Enjoys: Having fun, being in control of situations, being admired physically. She collects snake jewelery and loves anything shiny. She also enjoys a good cup of tea and a book. Large families, particularly happy ones. Shopping. Fighting with Montague
Dislikes: Being alone. Being in new situations. Not knowing exactly what is going on. Violence. Family squabbles.
Other: Verity wants very much to fit in to whatever situation she finds herself in. She finds that she is very nervous around her fellow Slytherins for a few reasons- 1. She doesn’t know how much people know about her family or what they think of the situation. 2. She is worried about people looking down on her for working for the Weasley’s (though she doesn’t think they have much room to talk, most of them crawling on their bellies to Minerva during the war. They have all had to do unsavory things to survive.)

Family
Spouse/partner (if applicable): Dating George Wealsey Married to Damian Montague
Parents: Father- Conor O’Shea, pureblood- DE, deceased. Mother- Melinda O’Shea, muggleborn, deceased
Sibling(s): Three older brothers: Conor Jr, Patrick, and Owen. Patrick and Owen were squib twins and ran away from home when Verity was only 9. Conor was a wizard but was killed by her father for standing up to him when Verity was a third-year (13 years old)
Children: Soon-to-be-Adopted son Marlowe Davies
Bloodline: Half-blood. Her father was pure as pure could be, but her mum was a muggleborn. However, she was raised as a pureblood and protrays herself that way to everyone. The O’Shea name is a well-respected pureblood name and Verity has no using it to her advantage.
Family History: Conor and Melinda met a few years after Hogwarts, the details are a little fuzzy to Verity, they didn’t spend much time reminiscing about it around her. They fell in love and got married on an impulse. Only later did Melinda learn Conor was a Death Eater. Conor became increasingly disgusted with Melinda’s mudblood. He began to take it out on both Melinda and their children, first verbally and emotionally, then escalating into extreme physical abuse. The worst of it was given to Owen and Patrick, both of which were great disappointments and their father blamed Melinda for them being squibs. Next in line was Verity for being a female as well as having tainted blood. Conor was held in a position of high esteem within the family and his “dirty blood” was often ignored. He was after-all the heir and a wizard.
Verity didn’t know her maternal grandparents at all. After Conor Sr and Melinda got married, he refused to allow contact with them, being that they were muggles. She grew up seeing her paternal grandparents often. They didn’t know about Melinda’s parentage but saw Conor’s methods of discipline to be necessary.
Pets: She bought a cat and named it Bally (after her favorite Quidditch team) while living in France and was given an Italian Greyhound, Maera, by Theo.
Other: She assumed for many years that the Death Eaters had found out about her mothers blood and killed her father for it. She has now learned that it was Antonin Dolohov (a close family friend) who killed her father for the abuse he dealt her.

Whenever the abuse at home escalated, she would visit Theo, hiding out in the rose garden, usually. He was always the only one she would let past her masks and the only one who knew how to calm her (or find her, for that matter.)

Social/Romantic/Sexual
Close Friendships: Fred and George Weasley(?), Theo Nott, Padma Patil, Pansy Parkinson, Damian Montague, Daphne Greengrass, Ginger Jones.
Known Enemies: Montague. Draco Malfoy, Angelina Johnson , Adrian Pucey (though he’s not really an enemy, they just can’t stand eachother)
Sexual Preference: Very attracted to men. She has an appreciation towards beautiful women, but doesn’t think it means anything sexual.
Turn Ons: She loves men taller than her who give good hugs. She respects intelligence and free-thinking (something she doesn’t think her housemates always displayed.) Turned on by scents (particularly men’s cologone), backs, and strong arms. She also loves the “bed head” look on men. Self-assuredness can sometimes be a turn on, though she would prefer someone who is just honest. And Quidditch playing is a major turn on for her. However, her largest attraction to any man is power.
Turn Offs: Violence, bad breath.
Past Relationships: She dated Montague during Hogwarts and felt very strongly for him. He was the one who sparked her love of Quidditch. When she ran away from home, it was Montague that she stayed with over holidays. The summer before their 7th year she was still staying with his family. She loved his family, despite their obvious racism, and hoped to one day be officially a part of it. However, it became increasingly obvious that Montague was after one thing- and she wasn’t willing to give it. The pressure had been building for a couple years and she was surprised that it had taken this long. When she finally told him no, firmly, he told her he didn’t have any interest in a useless mudblood anyway. The comment cut her deeply- he was one of the few who knew about her home life.

Dated George Weasley. They got in a fight about her friends and broke up- though she thought it was only temporary. George, however, was attacked a couple of days later, ending up in a coma. When he woke from the coma he didn't remember anything about their relationship. She still has very strong feelings for him, but has wound up engaged to Damian Montague.
What they think about sex and love She thinks that love is terribly confusing but does love her husband, despite everything they've been through. She beleives that sex should only happen between two committed, mature people- preferrably within the confines of marriage. She lost her virginity to George Weasley.
Other: She had always harbored a bit of a crush on Theo Nott. He was her closest friend growing up and has always acted as her protector. She thought they would marry when they were younger, but after she left Hogwarts she realized that it was a childish dream and that their lives were taking very different paths.
She lost her virginity to George Weasley.
See backstory for information on Verity and George’s relationship.

Magical
Wand Type: 10in, Ash, Unicorn hair
Magical talents: Arithmancy- she has always been good with numbers. She prides herself on her potions work and found it very useful while working with the Weasley’s. She also is great with movement magic- summoning, levitating, flying, etc.
Magical weaknesses/aversions (what your character can't or won't do): She is ridiculously bad at Transfiguration… She is also pretty bad at Defense Against Dark Arts (mostly because she didn’t apply herself, she found the dark arts very intriguing in school but never pursued anything with them from fear of becoming her father.) She absolutely will not try transfiguration on a living animal.
First sign of magic – when and what: When she was five she saw her father go to strike her mum and petrified him.
Boggart: a giant moth
Knows how to Apparate (y/n): y
Knows how to cast a patronus (y/n – if yes what?): n
Knows how to use the unforgivables (y/n): yes in theory but never has.
Other: Verity was never really respected for her mind, mostly her body and last name. She resents this (though she does use it to her advantage when needed.) The only exception was Theo, who would spend hours with her bantering over books.

Schooling:
Year: (in relation to Harry's year) +2
House: Slytherin
Other Affiliations: Charms club
Best subject(s): Charms, Potions, Herbology, Arithmancy
Poor subject(s): DADA, Transfiguration, History of Magic
Electives s/he would have taken: Arithmancy, CoMC, Ancient Runes
Best Mates: Montague, Theo, Pansy, Ginger Jones (NPC- Hestia Jone’s sister)
Romantic interests: Montague. They dated long term. Theo, though she wouldn’t have admited it.
Level of education reached (do your characters have OWLs/NEWTs – none of the above? Have they gone on to some type of training? Remember that there is no wizarding uni and that there is a war going on): NEWT in Potions, Arithmancy, and Charms.
Other: The only reason she stayed for her NEWTs was so she had somewhere to live.

Financial</b>
Current Occupation: Heiress. Has inherited three buisness from her father.
Other Occupations (side incomes, volunteer work, illegal activities): None.
Monetary Situation: She has just inherited from her family's fortune and has plenty of money
Other: Typically, she is very good with money

Current situation
Affiliations & Organisations: None
Faction this character supports: Verity silently supports the isolationists. She was very bitter towards the Order for what she saw as interference in her life with George. Now, her fiance is a DE and she feels a need to support them on some term, though she is desperately trying to keep her head down. She just wants the war to end. She doesn't agree with the way the LeStranges have been handling things lately and doesn't exactly support the Order, but she wants it over with and for her friends and family to be safe again.
Role in the ongoing war: None.

Finally
What is your character's deepest, darkest secret (one that other game characters probably wouldn't know and that he/she would prefer they didn't find out about) Also list the names of anyone who might know, or might be suspicious of this knowledge:

From George and Fred:
-Her father was a DE (most Slytherin’s would know this if their parents were DE’s. Her father was killed awhile ago, so current DE’s probably wouldn’t know, though they might have heard rumors.)

From Slytherins:
-Her mother was a muggleborn. (George, Montague, Theo)
-Lived on the streets while in Paris. (Theo, Montague)

From Everyone:
-She was physically abused as a child and ran away during her 6th year. (She has told George, who has forgotten, and Montague. Theo has always known)
-Her father killed her brother, Conor. (Some may suspect this. Though Theo is the only one who really knows.)
- She is blood-bound to Montague (Theo performed the ceremony)
